Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup beer (preferably a lager or pale ale)
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Hamburger buns, for serving
Instructions
- Cook the Bacon:
In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and crumble into small pieces. Set aside. - Brown the Beef:
In the same skillet, add the ground beef and cook over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary. - Cook the Aromatics:
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onions soften. - Add the Beer and Tomato Paste:
Pour in the beer, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the tomato paste and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the beer to reduce slightly. - Add the Cheese and Condiments:
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Then add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste. - Combine with Bacon:
Mix the crumbled bacon into the beef and cheese mixture. Stir until everything is well combined and heated through. - Serve:
Spoon the bacon beer cheese sloppy joe mixture onto hamburger buns. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- You can use any type of beer, but a lager or pale ale gives the best flavor.
- For extra creaminess, you can add a little more mayonnaise.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet before serving.
