Ingredients
8 ounces elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup cooked bacon (crumbled)
1 cup BBQ pulled chicken or beef
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux.
3. Slowly pour in the milk, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5–7 minutes.
4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
5. Add the cooked macaroni, BBQ pulled chicken or beef, and crumbled bacon. Stir until evenly coated.
6. (Optional) Transfer the skillet to a broiler for 2–3 minutes until golden brown on top.
