Description

Beef Meatballs in Mushroom Gravy is a hearty, savory meal combining tender meatballs, a rich and creamy mushroom gravy, and a side of irresistible mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 ounce mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 pound potatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoon butter (for mashed potatoes)

Instructions

1. 1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan, garlic, onion, parsley, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix until just combined and roll into meatballs.

2. 2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet and brown the meatballs on all sides. Set aside.

3. 3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until browned.

4. 4. Sprinkle in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in beef broth to prevent lumps.

5. 5. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme; let simmer until thickened. Stir in heavy cream and season with salt and pepper.

6. 6. Boil diced potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash with milk and butter until creamy. Season with salt and pepper.

7. 7. Return meatballs to the skillet, nestling them in gravy. Simmer for about 10 minutes to cook through and meld flavors.

Notes

Serve over creamy mashed potatoes and garnish with fresh parsley. This dish pairs well with a green salad or crusty bread.
