- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 slices bacon
- 1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and crumble.
- Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil and season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In the same skillet, cook the seasoned chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden-brown.
- Pour barbecue sauce over the chicken and top with cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted.
- Sprinkle chopped green onions on top before serving. Optionally add red pepper flakes.
Notes
For a healthier version, use skinless chicken thighs, turkey bacon, low-fat cheese, and sugar-free barbecue sauce.
