Description
Crispy Angel Cake Churro Bites are a delightful fusion of classic dessert flavors and textures. By combining the airy goodness of angel food cake with the irresistible crunch of churros, you’ve created a unique and irresistible treat that’s sure to impress your friends and family.
Ingredients
- 1 frozen angel food cake, thawed
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1. Start by letting your angel food cake thaw for 2-3 hours. Once it’s thawed, cut the cake into 1 1/2 to 2-inch cubes, ready for frying.
2. In a bowl, stir together the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to create the delectable coating for your churro bites.
3. Heat up some vegetable oil in a pan or skillet, keeping the temperature on low-medium. Working in batches, carefully fry the cake cubes until they’re golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Be sure not to overcrowd the pan, as this can affect the crispiness.
4. As soon as the fried cubes come out of the oil, toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat them evenly. The warm cubes will help the coating stick perfectly.
5. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to create a drizzle-able icing. Drizzle this over the coated churro bites just before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.
Notes
These churro bites are best enjoyed fresh and warm, straight from the frying pan. However, if you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply place the bites in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes, or until they’re crisp and heated through.
