Crispy Chinese Honey Chicken is a fusion of sweet and savory flavors, featuring crispy chicken coated in a delightful honey sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

1. Cut the boneless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.

2. Set up the breading station with all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in one bowl, beaten egg in another, and cornstarch in a third bowl.

3. Dip each chicken piece into the flour mixture, then the beaten egg, and finally coat it with cornstarch.

4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep frying pan to about 350°F.

5. Fry the coated chicken pieces in batches until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

6. Remove the fried chicken from the oil and let it drain on paper towels.

7. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic. Heat over low flame until warm and well-combined.

8. Toss the fried chicken in the honey sauce until evenly coated.

9. Serve sprinkled with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

Pairs beautifully with steamed white rice or fried rice. Serve alongside other Chinese favorites like egg rolls or potstickers.
