Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat, if necessary. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Combine Ingredients: Stir in the rice, French onion soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer to Casserole Dish: Pour the beef and rice mixture into the prepared casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake: Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
- Add Cheese (Optional): If using, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the casserole during the last 5 minutes of baking. Return to the oven to melt the cheese.
- Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute the cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese, like mozzarella or Gouda, for a unique twist.
- This casserole is great for meal prep, and it keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a spicier version, feel free to add a pinch of red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
- If you prefer a lighter version, you can replace ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
