Instructions

  • Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and a dash of salt. Add the butter and rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and the egg. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  • Shape the Doughnuts: Roll out the dough to about ½ inch thick. Use a doughnut cutter or a round cutter with a smaller round cutter for the center. Place the cut doughnuts on a floured surface and let rise for another 30 minutes.
