Description

A flavorful and easy-to-make Korean Ground Beef Bowl that combines savory, sweet, and umami notes for a delightful weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cup cooked rice

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rice with 2 cup of water in a pot, bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the water is absorbed.
  3. Remove from heat, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then fluff the rice with a fork.
  4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and break it apart as it cooks until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Drain any excess fat from the skillet, then add the minced garlic and ginger. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  6. Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Let the mixture simmer for a couple of minutes to meld the flavors together.
  8. Spoon a generous amount of cooked rice into a bowl and top with the savory ground beef mixture.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and any additional toppings like sliced cucumber or kimchi.

Notes

Optional toppings include sesame seeds, sliced cucumber, kimchi, fried egg, or pickled vegetables.
