Description

This hearty Million Dollar Steak & Potato Casserole combines tender ribeye steak, creamy potatoes, and melty cheddar cheese. It’s a comfort food dish that’s both savory and satisfying, perfect for family dinners or a special occasion. The creamy sauce with garlic powder, sour cream, and heavy cream adds a rich texture, while the paprika gives it a flavorful kick. Top it with green onions for an added fresh finish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ribeye steak, cubed

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and sliced

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup butter, melted

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions

Instructions

  • Prepare Steak: Season the cubed ribeye steak with salt, pepper, and paprika. Sear in a hot skillet until browned, then set aside.

  • Prepare Potatoes: Boil the sliced potatoes in salted water until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  • Make Cream Sauce: In a bowl, mix the sour cream, heavy cream, garlic powder, melted butter, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

  • Assemble Casserole: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer the potatoes, steak, onions, and cheese in a greased baking dish. Pour the cream sauce over the layers.

  • Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese on top.

  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

  • Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle chopped green onions on top and serve hot.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute the ribeye steak with other cuts like sirloin or flank steak.

  • For a lighter version, swap heavy cream with milk or a dairy-free alternative.

  • Can be prepared in advance. Assemble and refrigerate, then bake when ready.
