Description
Sausage and Cabbage Stir Fry: A Flavorful One-Pan Meal
Ingredients
- 1 lb sausage (Italian or smoked)
- 4 cup green cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (mixed colors)
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced sausage and cook until it’s nicely browned, about 5 minutes.
2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 2 minutes, or until the onions are translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
3. Incorporate the cabbage and bell peppers. Toss them into the skillet and stir-fry the vegetables until they’re tender yet still retain a bit of crunch, about 5-7 minutes.
4. Pour in the soy sauce and, if using, the red pepper flakes. Stir to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed. Continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and the cabbage is completely tender.
Notes
Enjoy as a standalone dish or pair with steamed rice, quinoa, or noodles. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
