Ingredients
- Bone-in pork chops
- Potatoes
- Onions
- Garlic
- Flour
- Milk
- Chicken broth
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Paprika
- Fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper.
2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chops until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.
3. Remove the chops from the pan and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until soft.
5. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
6. Sprinkle flour over the onion-garlic mixture and stir to coat.
7. Gradually whisk in milk and chicken broth, simmering until thickened.
8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
9. Layer half the sliced potatoes, half the sauce, and half the cheese in the dish.
10. Place seared pork chops on top, followed by remaining potatoes, sauce, and cheese.
11. Sprinkle with paprika.
12. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
13. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
14. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
Notes
Choose bone-in pork chops about 1-inch thick for moisture and flavor.
Slice potatoes thinly, around 1/8-inch thick, for even cooking.
Whisk flour into the onions and garlic thoroughly before adding milk and broth to prevent lumps.
