Spicy fish nuggets are the ultimate crowd-pleasing snack – perfectly crispy on the outside, with a bold and flavorful kick on the inside. Whether you’re looking for a tasty appetizer to serve at your next party or a quick and satisfying meal, these spicy fish bites are sure to delight.
Ingredients
- 300 grams boneless white fish, cut into cubes
- ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 4 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1–2 teaspoon peri peri seasoning
- 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon crushed black pepper
- 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Instructions
1. Start by patting the fish cubes completely dry and cutting them into uniform 1-inch pieces. This will ensure even cooking and a consistent texture throughout.
2. In a small bowl, combine the vinegar, peri peri seasoning, ginger garlic paste, salt, black pepper, and 2 tablespoon of flour. Mix these ingredients together to form a smooth paste.
3. Toss the fish cubes in the spice mixture until they are evenly coated. Allow the fish to marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for even more flavor.
4. Prepare a breading station by placing the remaining flour, the beaten egg and milk mixture, and the panko breadcrumbs mixed with dried parsley in separate dishes.
5. Dredge each piece of marinated fish in the flour, dip it in the egg wash, and then roll it in the seasoned panko breadcrumbs. This three-step process ensures a perfectly crispy exterior.
6. Heat oil to 350°F and fry the spicy fish nuggets in batches for 3-4 minutes, turning them halfway, until they are golden brown and crispy.
7. Remove the fried spicy fish nuggets from the oil and drain them on paper towels or a wire rack. Serve them hot, with your favorite dipping sauces on the side.
Notes
Serve with tartar sauce, spicy mayo, sriracha aioli, or a zesty lemon-garlic dip.
