Ingredients
- 500 g (1 lb) chicken thighs or breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
Instructions
1. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with the cornstarch, salt, and pepper until well coated.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken and cook until golden and fully cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
3. In the same skillet, combine the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil (if using), garlic, and ginger (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
4. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly with the sticky sauce. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot.
Notes
For the best results, opt for boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts.
Adjust the amount of honey to suit your personal taste preferences.
Coating the chicken in cornstarch before frying helps create a crispy exterior.
