Description
A hearty, flavor-packed Stuffed Italian Meatloaf with a cheesy twist, perfect for comfort food lovers.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup spinach, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce (for topping)
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (for topping)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Mix the Meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, eggs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, parsley, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined – don’t overmix!
3. Form and Fill: On a sheet of parchment paper, flatten the meat mixture into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Spread the marinara sauce for the filling, then evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and chopped spinach (if using).
4. Roll the Loaf: Carefully roll the meatloaf jelly-roll style into a log, sealing the edges. Transfer the rolled loaf to the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
5. Add the Topping: Spoon the remaining marinara sauce over the top of the loaf, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
6. Bake to Perfection: Pop the meatloaf into the preheated oven and bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
7. Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve your Stuffed Italian Meatloaf with extra marinara sauce or a side of pasta for a truly comforting and flavor-packed Italian-inspired dinner!
Notes
To ensure your Stuffed Italian Meatloaf turns out absolutely divine, here are a few helpful tips:
Don’t Overmix: Gently combine the meatloaf ingredients to avoid a dense or tough texture.
Get Creative with the Filling: Feel free to experiment with different cheese varieties or add extra veggies like roasted red peppers or caramelized onions.
Let it Rest: Allowing the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing helps the flavors meld and the juices redistribute, resulting in a beautifully moist and flavorful dish.
