Description

A deliciously hearty and satisfying dish that combines the classic flavors of Sloppy Joes with the irresistible crunch of tater tots.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 bag (32 ounce) frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 can (8 ounce) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

1. Start by heating the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

2. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is softened and the garlic is fragrant.

3. To the skillet, add the tomato sauce, ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.

4. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Arrange the frozen tater tots in an even layer over the Sloppy Joe mixture in the skillet.

5. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown.

6. Once the tater tots are perfectly cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return the skillet to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

This dish is best enjoyed hot, straight from the oven. Serve it up with your favorite sides, such as a fresh salad or steamed vegetables.
