Description

A mouthwatering Irish Pub Burger combines crispy bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and Irish stout, creating a juicy, flavorful patty. Paired with a creamy mustard sauce and served on a toasted brioche bun, this burger is the perfect balance of rich and savory flavors. Ideal for any burger lover looking for a hearty, pub-style meal at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)

  • 4 slices of bacon

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 1/2 cup Irish stout (such as Guinness)

  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 4 burger buns (preferably brioche)

  • Butter (for toasting buns)

Instructions

  • Cook Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside on paper towels.

  • Sauté Onions: In the same skillet, cook sliced onions until soft and caramelized. Add Irish stout and cook until the mixture is reduced and sticky.

  • Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, combine sour cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Set aside.

  • Form & Cook Patties: Shape the ground beef into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper. Grill or pan-fry to your preferred level of doneness. Top each patty with cheddar cheese and let it melt.

  • Toast Buns: Lightly butter the buns and toast them until golden brown.

  • Assemble Burgers: Spread sauce on the buns, add the burger patty, caramelized onions, and crispy bacon. Place the top bun and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, substitute the brioche buns with pretzel buns for a twist on the classic.

  • If you prefer a different cheese, gouda or Swiss cheese would work great in place of cheddar.

  • This burger can be made ahead by prepping the patties and sauce a day before cooking.
