Description
This Sausage, Gravy, and Biscuit Pie is a comforting and hearty dish perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner. Featuring layers of creamy sausage gravy topped with fluffy biscuit dough, it’s an easy, satisfying meal the whole family will love.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or baking dish.
- Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through. Do not drain the grease.
- Make the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to coat. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Continue to cook, stirring, until the gravy thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
- Assemble the Pie: Pour the sausage gravy mixture into the prepared pie dish. If using cheese, sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the gravy. Separate the biscuit dough and place the biscuits evenly on top of the sausage gravy.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- Serve: Let the Sausage, Gravy, and Biscuit Pie rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy the warm, hearty layers of biscuits, sausage, and gravy!
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding cooked bacon or crumbled sausage to the gravy mixture.
- You can substitute the refrigerated biscuits for homemade biscuit dough if preferred.
- If you’re making this for a crowd, simply double the recipe and bake it in a larger dish!
- The shredded cheddar cheese is optional but adds a delicious cheesy layer to the dish.
